I managed a department of 8 supporting, maintaining and developing the financial systems (JBA and Coda Ledgers, FMIS Assets, KV Payroll and Personnel) for Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) companies across a number of AS/400’s. As a department manager I was responsible for department budgets, recruitment and development of both permanent and contract staff within the department.
I managed a Group wide project to develop and implement an AS/400 based bespoke purchase ordering system based on the JBA system which was written in RPG/400, CL and DDS.
Northumbrian Water Group took over a number of other companies and I was responsible for analysing the use of IT within these companies and devising and implementing a project plan to implement the NWG standard applications (mainly JBA System21) in these companies.
I managed the selection and implementation of a PC based financial system for use within Imass, other NWG companies and external clients throughout the UK.
All project analysis, design and management was conducted using the LBMS Systems Engineering methodology, on which I was fully trained.
I managed the setup, migration and interface requirements of South East Water as they moved to an Oracle based customer billing system supplied by Imass. This involved managing a team of 10 analysts and programmers who were specifying and developing migration scripts and interfaces to and from external organisations. I co-ordinated and scheduled the work within Imass to ensure that this was completed within the overall project timescales. I also provided input into the design and functionality of the interfaces as well as being responsible for ensuring that the completed interfaces met user requirements. I managed this process on behalf of Imass and was the main point of contact for the client.
